The Mercury Blood Midge is a pattern from Pat Dorsey. You can tie the fly on a variety of hooks like the Tiemco 200 R, TMC 101 or Firehole 633. I like to add a coat of UV resin or head cement to add some extra durability to the fly. It pre-darkens the body to what it will look like when wet.

Mercury Blood Midge fly pattern recipe (Pat Dorsey)

      Hook: Firehole 633 #18-24
      Bead: Glass seed bead 11/0
      Thread: Red 8/0 (70d)
      Rib: Gold Ultrawire
      Thorax: Peacock herl
